North Western Province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo has challenged people in the region to unite and embrace one another regardless of political affiliation if meaningful development is to be attained in the province.
Mr Mateyo said people in the province must rise to the occasion and put political differences aside and focus on how best to develop the region and improve their living standards.
The permanent secretary was speaking in Mwinilunga during the Chidika Chamvula traditional ceremony of Chief Kanyama held at the weekend.
Mr Mateyo also advised the people to respect and support President Edgar Lungu as a legitimately elected President.
He assured the people that Government remained committed to developing the province, adding that it will finish all developmental projects it started and initiate new ones.
Speaking through his representative, Chief Kanyama thanked Government for initiating many development projects among them connecting the chiefdom to the national power grid and the Kanyama livestock breeding centre.
Chief Kanyama appealed to Government to consider addressing the water challenge the chiefdom was facing with and work on the 60-km Kanyama feeder road which was in a deplorable state.
