THE Ministry of Health on the Copperbelt has vaccinated over 1,149,593 children aged between nine months and 15 years against measles and rubella virus during the just ended campaign.
Copperbelt provincial medical officer Dr Consity Mwale described the exercise as successful in all districts.
Dr. Mwale said the health team beat the target of 1,100,000 by recording a surplus in numbers of children vaccinated.
He said the community responded positively in ensuring that the province eliminated measles and rubella.
On September 19, Zambia kicked off the country-wide immunization exercise to vaccinate children aged between nine months and 15 years.
The vaccination exercise was done at all health facilities and schools to reach the targeted number of children throughout the country.
