POLICE in Lusaka have discovered the body of a female juvenile identified as Tiwelenji Phiri of Mazyopa Compound who was reported missing two weeks ago.
Police deputy spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the development yesterday.
Ms. Katongo disclosed that the body was discovered floating on Ngwerere stream in Garden Compound and in a decomposed state on Thursday.
She said the deceased was earlier reported missing by relatives on September, 11 2016.
“A body of a female juvenile identified as Tiwelenji Phiri of Mazyopa Compound in Lusaka was discovered floating on Ngwerere stream in Lusaka in a decomposed state. The body has since been retrieved and buried,” Ms. Katongo said.
Meanwhile, a man of Kasupe area in Lusaka West on Thursday committed suicide by hanging himself using a rope tied to a mango tree at a farm where he worked as a caretaker
Ms. Katongo identified the deceased as Benson Kaputa Chibuye aged 74.
She, however, indicated that police had not yet established the motive behind the suicide.
“A man of Kasupe area in Lusaka West committed suicide at a farm where he was a caretaker in Lusaka West by hanging himself using a rope tied to a mango tree. The deceased who was living alone has been identified as Benson Kaputa Chibuye aged 74. The body is lying in UTH mortuary,” she said.
