Facebook, Twitter suspend Zambian Watchdog pages

THE UPND controlled Zambian Watchdog’s Facebook and Twitter pages have been suspended.

The online paper has been criticised for publishing falsehoods intended to cause anarchy and divide communities and the situation worsened when the UPND lost the elections to the Patriotic Front (PF) on August 11.

Facebook and Twitter users have noted that the paper’s official pages on Facebook and Twitter could not be accessed since Wednesday.

They alleged that the pages had been deleted for publishing material deemed inciting and promoting hatred against individuals and fanning anger amongst communities.

“Since Wednesday, I have not been able to access their page on both Facebook and Twitter. I thought it was just my internet connections which were bad, but it looks like I am not the only one who could not access them. Everyone is wondering what is happening, I guess the pages have finally been deleted because the pages are inaccessible,” said one of the users.
