Mushipe bullies Woodlands police officers

 

EMOTIONAL Martha Mushipe, a United Party for National Development (UPND) lawyer, yesterday staged another emotional stunt before cameras after being arrested at Woodlands Police Station for the offence of Seditious Practices Contrary to section 57 (1) (c) (d) and (2) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Ms Mushipe was summoned at Woodlands police station where she was interrogated for close to two hours.

Immediately after being arrested, Ms Mushipe went emotional and shouted at a female police officer who was trying to organise some water for her to wash her hands.

Ms Mushipe walked out of the arresting officer’s office while looking for a tap to wash her hands as she complained before the officers that her hands had become dirty when the police officers got her finger print.

“Where is the bathroom? I need to wash. You are wasting my time! I want to wash my hands! They are very dirty!” Ms Mushipe shouted at a female police officer who was organising water for her.

Upon noticing the presence of the media, Ms Mushipe walked closer to the camera and shouted, “I have been arrested! I have been arrested, you need to know!”

Ms Mushipe was only stopped speaking to the media, while shouting at a police officer, after the arresting officers demanded that she (Mushipe) goes back in

 

his office in order for the police to conclude the arresting procedure.

And her lawyer Mr Chad Muleza from Muleza Mwiimbu and Company Advocates explained  to journalists at Woodlands police that her client Ms Mushipe had been arrested  and charged with seditious practices contrary to section 57 (5) of the Zambian Penal Code.

Ms Mushipe was accompanied by another UPND lawyer Nelly Mutti and Namwala UPND Member of Parliament Moono Lubezhi.

And deputy police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo explained that the police at Woodlands Police charged and arrested Ms Mushipe, 51 for the offence of Seditious Practices Contrary to section 57 (1) (c) (d) and (2) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Ms Katongo said Ms Mushipe, on unknown date but between July 1, 2015 and April 11, 2016 whilst acting together with other unknown persons had in her possession, Seditious materials without lawful excuse.

Ms Katongo said Ms Mushipe appeared in Court for mention yesterday.
