THE development of agriculture and tourism in Northern Province will create youth employment and reduce poverty among the locals, Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile has said.
Mr Mundubile, who is Mporokoso Member of Parliament, said that in line with the presidential pronouncements, he wanted to take a lead in the green revolution because Government was already thinking of boosting the agriculture sector in the area.
He said his priority would be job creation for the youths by targeting agriculture and tourism owing to the great potential in the two sectors.
“If one thinks about agriculture, the province has the best rainfall pattern, river water and tourism assets which can create a lot of employment once fully exploited,” said Mr Mundubile.
It was his firm belief to take advantage and exploit resources in Northern Province for the betterment of the people.
Mr Mundubile said apart from agriculture and tourism, the region was also home of timber that could help in creating youth employment amongst the locals.
He would soon come up with a programme to encourage the locals to look for partners to set up industries in wood and wooden products.
Mr Mundubile said the province still faced challenges in infrastructure development although it had already seen massive progress in that direction especially in the areas such as good roads network, waterfalls, wildlife and rivers that had
slowly started attracting investments in the tourism sector.
