The legendary Maureen Lupo Lilanda is among the many top Zambian musicians set to perform at the first-ever One Drum music festival by Sling Beats scheduled for 24th September at Lusaka’s Bongwe Big Bush.
This is an event that has attracted a lot of attention as it is also meant to launch the ‘One Drum’ 17 track album written and produced by Chali “Bravo”Mulalami of Sling Beats.
The event will also be aired live on Hot FM Radio, which is among the many corporate partners.
The venue Bongwe Big Bush will be in a mixture of live band music and exciting DJ sets by some of the biggest DJs in Zambia. Maureen Lilanda and many other artistes that include Roberto, Ozzy, Hamoba, T-Sean to mention only a few will perform their own songs, songs from the Sling Beats catalogue and new hits from the One Drum album to create a unique blend of the old and the new.
“The project mainly comes as a way of bringing back some of the lost days in music production and songwriting. It is mainly anchored on the theme ‘Let’s celebrate music, let’s celebrate life. ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION, ONE DRUM,” says Chali, the project initiator.
In the past days, the One Drum organisers in collaboration with ‘Hunters Dry’ promoters have been making random features at most popular entertainment spots in Lusaka in an effort to spread the word on the forthcoming event.
Alliance Francaise presents Short Film Festival

The Alliance Francaise in Lusaka is scheduled to host a short film festival on Saturday, September 24th.
This festival which starts at 18 hours and attracts is in an effort to support and promote local film production. It will feature short films from the local artistes who will be accorded a chance to share their unique stories inspired by a number of things.
Amongst the short films lined up is ‘The Mother and The Stranger’ featuring main cast Andrew Brow Mayaba. This plus three other short films will be shown on the night which is expected to draw spectators in local entertainment and film industry.
