IT is important for Government to put in place stringent measures that will prevent financial linkages which stress the economy, says financial analyst, Maambo Hamaundu.
Mr Hamaundu said economic and financial management remained key to Zambia’s survival.
He explained that it was, therefore, important for Government to put in place stringent measures and discipline which would consolidate the fiscal consolidation which Zambia currently lacked.
“It is very important that stringent measures are put in place particularly fiscal discipline and consolidation which has been lacking.
“We do not need to have unnecessary financial linkages from our people and we have seen in the past years a lot of unplanned expenditure. We can see the effect of engaging in activities which are not planned,” he said.
Mr Hamaundu explained that it was important to diversify the economy which had been underperforming in the recent years due to many circumstances such as the falling copper prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
