Zambian goes missing in South Africa

A ZAMBIAN businessman has reportedly gone missing in South Africa where he had gone to pick up his new Toyota Lexus vehicle, press secretary at the Zambian High Commission Nicky Shabolyo has said.

The Zambian national has been identified as Sajjad Ahmad Abbasi who was reported missing on Friday, September 9, 2016 after he checked out of his rented apartment in Hydro Park Furnished Apartments in room 1116 on the 11th Floor, Graystone Drive in Sandton.

“Preliminary information indicates that Sajjad arrived in South Africa on Wednesday 7th September, 2016, and was last seen at Woodmead Shopping Mall on Thursday 8th September, 2016 where he was dropped off by his colleagues.

“He is said to have requested to be dropped off and that someone would pick him up from there and take him to Four Ways Suburbs,” Mr Shabolyo said.

The High Commission has reported the matter to the police and investigations have since been instituted into the disappearance of Mr Abbasi.

He was said to have travelled to South Africa to pick his vehicle, which had already been paid for last month, and was said to have met with some Zambians resident in South Africa before he disappeared.

Mr Shabolyo said Mr Abbasi discovered to have gone missing on Friday, the day he checked out from the apartment and that “the case of a missing person has since been reported to the South African Police for investigations.”
