THERE was total silence in a Lusaka Local Court as a woman narrated how her husband removed her from the matrimonial bed and started making love with his girlfriend he brought home as she watched.
This is in a case in which Angela Mukosha, 29, of Kanyama compound sued her husband Reuben Mukosha, 29, for divorce.
The two got married in 2004 and have three children.
Angela told Senior Court Magistrate Miyanda Banda sitting with Magistrate Pauline Newa at Matero Local Court that Mukosha could go to his girlfriend’s home for three days and did not answer her phone calls.
She explained that at one time she found Mukosha at his girlfriend’s house who has since died.
Angela further said that Mukosha found another girlfriend in Matero compound.
“Three days after my child died, Mukosha went away again to his girlfriend in Matero and he would spend one night at home in a week.
“On January 21, he came home with the same girlfriend at 21.00 hours and I gave them food. His girlfriend slept on a sofa, and left the following day,” said Angela.
She explained that after a week, Mukosha came with the same woman at 22.00 hours and chased her from the matrimonial bed and started making love to her while she watched from a mat where she slept.
Angela said she could not leave the matrimonial home because it was late in the night and that Mukosha’s girlfriend left in the afternoon the following day.
Angela further said that she left matrimonial home a week ago because Mukosha was beating her with an iron bar every time she came 20 minutes late from work.
In defence, Mukosha said that Angela was a crook because when he gave her K4000 to keep, she lied that the landlord had borrowed K1, 700 and also squandered K5000 meant for the restaurant.
Mukosha denied bringing a girlfriend in the matrimonial bedroom.
Magistrate Banda said that Mukosha tortured Angela by bringing a girlfriend in the matrimonial bedroom and making love to her while his wife watched.
He granted the couple divorce ordering Mukosha to compensate Angela K15, 000 with initial payment of K1, 500 followed by monthly instalments of K300 and to be paying child maintenance fee of K500 per month. Property acquired together would be shared equally.
