CONGRATULATORY messages on the re-election of President Edgar Lungu have continued to pour into the country following his victory in the August 11, 2016 general elections.
King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco has expressed happiness on President Lungu’s re-election as Sixth Republican President.
In his congratulatory message to President Lungu, the King acknowledged that there had been a quantum leap in the diplomatic and political relations between Zambia and Morocco under the leadership of President Lungu.
He said he valued the brotherly African bonds that existed between Zambia and Morocco and the peoples of the two countries.
King Mohammed VI pledged continued collaboration with the President and the Zambian government to consolidate the relations between Zambia and Morocco based on fruitful cooperation and active solidarity.
He said this cooperation would help serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries and contribute to promoting unity, stability and progress on the African continent. And the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Zambia has expressed confidence that President Lungu’s leadeship would steer the country to greater heights of social, economic and political development.
In a congratulatory message, FES Resident Director Helmut Elischer assured President Lungu of the foundation’s support to the Zambian government. Mr. Elischer called for further strengthening of the cooperation between the Patriotic Front government and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the spirit of Social Democracy and Social Justice.
“The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is delighted to join the nation in congratulating you on your re-election as President of the Republic of Zambia. We wish you success and good health in your undertakings,” Mr. Elischer said.
Meanwhile, the Barotse Royal Establishment on behalf of His Majesty the Litunga and the people of Western Province has described President Lungu’s re-election as a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence that the people of Zambia have in his leadership.
The Royal Establishment also commended President Lungu for remaining calm, humble and tolerant during the trying moments the country faced, saying the President demonstrated his honest leadership and commitment to the ‘One Zambia, One Nation’ motto.
