Zambia remains a beacon of peace-Kalaba

ZAMBIA has continued to mesmerize the world with its unique coolness and rejecting tolerance to political greed often inspired by egotism because the country is blessed with yet another unique leader, President Edgar Lungu who is determined to uphold the demands of the new Constitution, Harry Kalaba has said.

Mr Kalaba said President Lungu would occupy a special place his (Kalaba) political career for holding off all the pressures of the presidential lofty office in order to uphold the unique and new demands of the amended Constitution.

Mr Kalaba said the amended Constitution had not only tested the patience of citizens but had also put the resolve for Zambians to remain a united and peaceful people to a test.

He said President Lungu had remained magnanimous in the most difficult and challenging times and that the Head of State had done everything expected of a good leader for the greater good of the country.

Mr Kalaba said President Lungu in the last three weeks had appeared more ordinary than the weighty calls of his (President Lungu) of his eminent office.

He said Zambia was a blessed nation with a leader who transcended and defied the logic of dirty politics and whose action had made Zambia not just a place on the map but a beacon of light to the world.

“Special mention must go to the President-elect, Edgar Lungu, for holding off all the pressures of his lofty office in order to uphold the unique demands of our new constitution which have tested both our patience and resolve as a people. In these difficult times, the President Elect has remained magnanimous and done everything expected of a leader who puts self beneath the greater good of the Country. He has often appeared more ordinary than the weighty calls of his imminent office. We are indeed a blessed people gifted with a leader who transcends and defies the logic of dirty politics and whose actions have often made Zambia not just a place on the map, but a beacon of light to the world,” Mr Kalaba said.

Mr Kalaba said Zambia had never been defined by its social or political differences and that Zambians had never cherished or worshiped people or leaders whose desire was to divide the country.

He said Zambians needed to commend themselves for defying the odds that had threatened the very foundation of the country’s cherished values and unity of purpose.

“We have risen above our political differences and chosen to stay true to who we really are as a people in the midst of a very heated political atmosphere. The actions of President Lungu have embodied the true spirit of Zambia. He has held aloft the torch of true dignity and his message of love and inclusiveness will remain engraved in our hearts and that is what I hope will continue to make us remain united and frown upon all those among us who do not believe that our destiny remains our choice,” Mr Kalaba said.
