PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu is changing the face of democracy in Africa by following the doctrine of the rule of law and not the rule of man even under extremely difficult times in the history of the country, Paradius Sakala has said.
Mr Sakala, who is Sinda district commissioner, said President Lungu’s respect for the rule of law and the courts was sending the message to other countries that leadership was not at the whims of individual desires but respect for the will of the people.
He said President Lungu had demonstrated unique leadership from the beginning when the notorious cartel embarked on a ‘‘vicious and acidic campaign’’ to block him from the presidency following the death of President Michael Sata.
He recalled that before the death of president Sata, President Lungu was the acting president with the instruments of power but the cartel through their axis of evil viciously fought and grabbed the instruments of power from him.
“President Lungu has demonstrated true statesmanship in the manner he has presided over the affairs of the country. President Lungu has changed the face of democracy in Africa and the world by respecting the rule of law.
‘‘And my appeal is that the international community should consider recognizing President Lungu as a man who is changing the face of the democratic dispensation in Africa and the world,” Mr Sakala said.
