FR RICHARD Luonde has branded Wynter Kabimba, Hakainde Hichilema and Edith Nawakwi as dictators and that their political parties are headed into oblivion because of their authoritarian leadership style.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Fr Luonde said the United Party for National Development (UPND) and Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) had authoritarian leaders who had denied other members the opportunity to challenge them through party conventions.
Fr Luonde said instead of subjecting their political parties to a transparent convention, both the UPND and FDD had never been to a convention for almost a decade now.
“It is because of such kind of leadership styles that some political parties will go into oblivion come 2021, they will not be in existence,” he said.
Fr Luonde said the UPND, FDD, NAREP and Rainbow Parties should go for conventions and allow the general membership whether poor or rich to challenge the party presidents.
Fr Luonde said even his own political party the Rainbow Party was destined into oblivion because of the Secretary General Wynter Kabimba’s selfish leadership style.
He complained that Mr Kabimba was an autocratic leader who had always been making unilateral decisions.
Fr Luonde said there was no way a political party could be managed the way Mr Kabimba was managingthe party by being an autocratic leader.
He complained that Mr Kabimba had suspended a lot of people without giving them opportunity to exculpate themselves.
Fr Luonde said Mr Kabimba also suspended him from the party without even according him chance to defend himself.
“He (Kabimba) receives advice from people who have been giving information which cannot be substantiated.
“I was accused of having received K80, 000 from Mr Kabimba for my campaigns in the Constituency. Because of that accusation some of my party members thought I had squandered the money alone and started making fake stories against me in the party and that was how Mr Kabimba suspended me without giving me a chance to explain myself,” Fr Luonde explained.
He said it was the same Mr Kabimba who was in a position to clear his (Fr Luonde) name that he did not receive any money from the Secretary General.
“If we begin to act like this, as party leaders, then just know that the party is going nowhere,” he said.
