REFORMED Church in Zambia (RCZ) has applauded President Edgar Lungu for his plans to introduce the ministry of religious affairs.
RCZ Solwezi church overseer Rev Paul Lungu said the move was in the right direction, adding that a nation that abandons God is doomed.
Rev Lungu said Zambia, being a beacon of peace and a Christian nation, it is important to embrace President Lungu’s idea.
‘‘As a church we welcome the idea because it is very progressive and will promote a sense of unity,’’ he said.
He said the introduction of the ministry means a lot to the Christian community and the Zambian people at large.
He said the proposal will promote Christian values and give more meaning to the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.
And Rev Lungu has appealed to the people in the province not to go on streets and fight but embrace and accept the outcome of the Constitutional Court ruling over the presidential petition.
Recently President Lungu announced that he will create a ministry of religious affairs that will oversee religious matters in the country.
