KALUMBILA district administrative officer Chipawa Chipawa has assured the people of Kalumbila district to expect massive development in the new district because Government has put plans in place to develop the area.
And Mr Chipawa has observed that it is important that the local people engage the Government by identifying the needs of the new district which he said will enable the State to come in and work together with the people.
He said Solwezi was too big which made it difficult for Government to deliver services to the people in some areas, adding that Government will do its best to change the face of the area now that Kalumbila is a stand-alone district.
‘‘The PF government is fully committed to develop this area and that is why it was declared a district by President Edgar Lungu,’’ he said.
He was speaking during a stakeholders’ dialogue for Kalumbila district.
He warned civil servants that were not willing to deliver services to the local people, adding that Government will not entertain civil servants that delay development programmes.
‘‘It is a timely warning to those public service workers with a tendency of frustrating Government efforts. As district administration we will not tolerate such,’’ he said.
He also advised the local people to take advantage of the land by venturing into agriculture because the mine is there to provide a market than just waiting to be employed by the mines.
