COPPERBELT-BASED football administrator Henry Chama says with adequate preparation ZESCO United can go all the way in this year’s CAF Champions League final and lift the continental club trophy for the first time.
Chama said this season Zesco had performed well on the African front with a tremendous record of positive results without losing any single home game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
He says the CAF Champions League semi-final encounter which Zesco will play against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns would yield a positive result and reach the finals.
“The reason why the Zambian team was performing well was because of the players dedication and desire to deliver. The boys are willing to put in their best to see the club reach this far,” he said. He said if ZESCO won the prestigious CAF champions League final, the levels of football in Zambia would be rated highly on the international scene.
“Coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina has tutored a formidable side in the country that can compete with any team on the African continent. The inclusion of professional players from different countries in Africa has added flavor to the Ndola outfit,
“ZESCO has the capacity and ability of winning the CAF champions league for Zambia to be on the world of football map,” said Chama.
He said Zesco was a better side than Sundowns and was confident that the Super League champions would win in both legs scheduled for September 17 in Ndola and 24 in Tshwane.
