Football Association of Zambia president Andrew Kamanga was yesterday beaten by suspected Patrotic Frontic cadres after attending a United church of Zambia event in Lusaka,
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed
“Andrew Kamanga aged 49 years Football Association of Zambia president reported at 15:00 at Woodlands Police Station that after attending church service at St Andrews United Church of Zambia was attacked at about 11:30 hours by suspected Patriotic Front Party Cadres who he can identify if seen,
Fists are alleged to have been used. He has since been issued with a police report, ” said Hamoonga said
A video had emerged recently purporting that Kamanga had attended UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s press briefing in the aftermath of the disputed August 11 elections.
Kamanga has denied being the person in the video.
“I had just gone to greet the Republican President Edgar Lungu at the event. But when leaving the function event, cadres pounced on me. They accused me of trying to undermine the President. They beat me up, broke my glasses and I had to run back into the church building for safety.”
When asked if police had been present when he was being beaten Kamanga responded, “Yes, but they just watched. I think the thugs were hired,” said Kamanga said.
