PF lawmakers donate to Namwala victims of violence


PATRIOTIC Front (PF) disaster management committee has donated various goods worth K102 225 to 94 displaced families in Southern Province who were displaced from their homes following the violence that rocked the region after President Edgar Lungu was declared winner of the August 11 general elections.

Yesterday, a PF Committee on Disaster Management for members of Parliament comprising Mandevu lawmaker Jean Kapata, Kabushi’s Bowman Lusambo, and Chifubu’s Frank Ngambi among others donated bicycles to each family, hundreds of bags of mealie meal, hundreds of liters of cooking oil, sugar, bathing and washing soup, holy bibles, and several other items worth K102 , 225. And addressing the affected families, committee spokesperson Bowman Lusambo promised the 94 displaced families that the committee of PF members of Parliament would each family a house after the Constitutional court throws out the United Part for National Development (UPND) general elections petition. He said the MPs through the committee will procure building materials and iron sheets for each family through mobilization of resources.

And Chairperson Mr Mwambazi explained that the committee had the blessings of President Lungu and vice president Inonge Wina. He said the committee had decided to take it upon themselves to look after the affected 94 families.  And Ms Kapata said Zambia was a democratic country were people had a right to chose a political party to belong to without anybody harassing them. Ms Kapata said the UPND carders behind the displacement of 94 families must account for their atrocities.

Ms Kapata also took time to remind the people of Southern Province that Edgar Lungu was in charge of the State, adding that they wasted their celebrating a lie that went round suggesting that the Constitutional court had ruled in fevour of Mr Hichilema.

She said she was hopeful that the Constitutional Court would throughout the UPND petition and it would be another Dununa Reverse for the PF members in including the ones in Southern province. “Every Bill that will come from the PF in Parliament will definitely be going through,” she said. Ms Kapata encouraged party officials in Choma to continue asking the people in
Southern province to join the PF.
