SUPPORTERS of President Lungu on the Copperbelt have vowed that they will not accept nullification of the election of the Head of State because their choice is final.
They have cautioned the Constitutional Court to be cautious in dealing with the petition by the UPND because it had serious implications for peace and security.
Mine Suppliers and Contractors Association of Zambia (MSCAZ) president Bwalya Mufonka said it would be impossible for supporters of President Lungu to accept the ruling of the Constitutional Court if it nullified the election of the Head of State. Mr Mufonka said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that President Lungu won the August 11 elections and that they would reject the decision of the Constitutional Court if it was not in their favour.
“As supporters of President Lungu, we will not accept the nullification of President Lungu’s election because on August 9, 2016, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema told his supporters that should President Lungu win, his election would be nullified.
“It is from this background that we are suspicious of what the Constitutional Court will rule on the matter. So if the ruling will be as Mr Hichilema predicted, then it will not go well. So whatever the makeup of the Constitutional Court judges are, they should put facts first,” Mr Mufonka said. He said Zambians were happy with the election of President Lungu and that was why Zambians burst into celebrations when the Head of State was declared winner.
And in Lusaka, PF youths held a solidarity march in support of the re-election of President Lungu.
The youths who brought traffic in Lusaka to a standstill said in as far as they were concerned, there was only one duly elected President and that was President Lungu adding that he been so declared by the Electoral Commission of Zambia chairperson Justice Esau Chulu.
