PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kankoyo Member of Parliament Brian Mushimba says he will not be an ‘’absentee MP’’ because he has a lot of work to do in the constituency.
Mr Mushimba said there was need for him to interact more with the people because they had different needs.
Mr Mushimba, an engineer from the University of Arizona in the United States, said despite his academic and professional qualifications, he would always remain humble and listen to the demands of the people just like President Edgar Lungu had been humble to Zambians.
He said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that he would always be indebted and grateful to Zambians because he went to study in USA on a ZCCM scholarship after completing Form 6 at Mpelembe Secondary School.
“I managed to go to USA to study because I was given a scholarship by ZCCM and after graduating I worked in various companies, but now I am back and wish to serve my country.
‘‘After being elected MP, I promise that I will not be an absentee MP.
“I have a lot of work to do in the constituency and also most important of all, as leader, I need to interact with the people to get to know what really needs to be done in their areas,” Mr Mushimba said.
He said now that he had been elected Kankoyo MP, he would lobby Government for infrastructure like roads, clinics and other things that would improve the lives of people in the area.
He said most of the infrastructure such as roads, schools and clinics were in a dilapidated state and so it was imperative that various parts of the constituency were given a facelift.
