A CATHOLIC priest and his two female passengers are nursing serious injuries in Solwezi General Hospital after a vehicle in which they were travelling collided head on with a bus which was coming from the opposite direction.
Confirming the accident, North Western Province Commissioner of Police Lackson Sakala said the incident happened on Wednesday around 04:30 hours on Independence Avenue opposite Total filling station.
Mr Sakala said that the accident involved a Toyota Hilux driven by Father Timothy Banda of St Stevens Catholic Church in Solwezi who had two female passengers with him.
Mr Sakala said Fr Banda failed to keep to his lane and collided head on with a bus belonging to Kamaka Quarries which was coming from the other direction.
“I can confirm that we recorded a road accident involving a Catholic priest and two female passengers who got injured and are currently admitted to Solwezi General Hospital,” he said.
He however said that the condition for the three was stable.
Mr Sakala cautioned motorists to be alert and warned drivers with a tendency to over-speed to desist from such practices.
