Ground Focus Group (GFG) says it is happy with President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front winning the highly contested 2016 general elections.
GFG chief executive officer Jimmy Mubashi said it was time to unite and move on because Zambia was a sovereign State.
Mr. Mubashi said President Lungu did his best to complete the many development projects the late President Michael Sata had started and initiated new ones to meet the desires of the people and to stabilize the economy.
He said the business community, especially local investors in the mining sector like Ground Focus mine, took great exception to negative suggestions by the opposition UPND that it would bring back Anglo American Corporation which had abandoned Konkola Copper Mines when the country faced economic challenges many years ago.
He said the UPND plans, if they had won the elections, would have been suicidal and a betrayal of the highest order to investors that had been around through thick and thin.
“To President Edgar Lungu and the PF, our message is that this is not the time for honeymoon but to work hard to fulfill the promises made to the people because the general citizenry is highly expectant, having given their preferred leader a full five- year mandate,” Mr Mubashi said.
He said Government needed inspiration from countries like the People’s Republic of China that believed the people were its greatest assets.
“It is my hope and prayer that the PF government will come up with an urgent and vigorous programme of empowerment through the creation of opportunities for local business entities especially in the mining and construction sector,” he said.
