…they beat and drove him to Kyawama before grabbing 40 copies of the newspaper
OPPOSITION United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres yesterday attacked a Daily Nation vendor Reagan Mulusa in Solwezi and confiscated 40 copies of the paper worth K400.
The incident happened around 11.oo hours at the main bus station after they pounced on Mr Mulusa whom they found selling the newspaper.
Explaining his ordeal, Mr Mulusa said he was at the main bus station when five UPND cadres descended on him after they saw him selling the Daily Nation newspaper which they claimed was against the opposition party.
He said they roughed him up before they later pushed him in a vehicle they were driving and took him to nearby Kyawama compound.
He explained that before they reached Kyawama market on the airport road he was taken out of the vehicle and the gang started beating him and in the process grabbed 40 copies of the Tuesday edition valued at K 400.

He said after being badly beaten, he was abandoned in Kyawama.
“I reported the matter to Solwezi Central police station,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, a number of UPND supporters were picked up yesterday by police following the fracas that occurred in Kyawama area.
