GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of General Education has deployed 484 teachers to North Western Province.
Provincial education officer Steven Chishiko told journalists at his office that out of the 5,900 applicants, 484 were selected and that among the districts that would benefit were Mwinilunga district with 67, Kabompo 60, Chavuma 48, Ikelenge 30 and Kasempa 40 teachers.
Other districts are Manyinga 57, Mufumbwe 40, Mushindamo 36, while Solwezi and Zambezi will receive 33 and 41 each respectively.
He however said many applicants were left out due to being in possession of forged documents.
“I can confirm with you that as earlier announced by Government that it was recruiting teachers countrywide, the province has received its share of teachers,” he said.
He also appealed to the selected teachers to report to their various stations not later 15th September, adding that failure to do so risked having them replaced.
“If they don’t report on time they will be replaced, so they should take note of the deadline,” he said.
And Mr Chishiko has appealed to the selected teachers to be conversant with the code of ethics for civil servants and carry out their duties according to the stipulated Government guidelines.
“In the public service and teaching fraternity in particular, there are guidelines which need to be followed, and so our new teachers should not go beyond what is stipulated in the code of ethics for public service workers,’’ he said.
