NEWLY elected Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga says he will lobby for the establishment of new industries in Kalulushi and empowerment of women and youths.
Ms Mulenga said it was important to come up with new industries in Kalulushi because it would be one way of achieving economic recovery and creating employment for the youths in the area.
She said in an interview in Kalulushi yesterday that it was her desire was to improve the economic situation of Kalulushi by striving to create opportunities for the people in the area, especially the women and the youths.
“If we work together with the people who voted for me, we will make Kalulushi a better place to live in. We need to lobby for industries to improve the economic situation in the country. Industries that will add economic value and create employment for our youths,
“Apart from job creation, we will also support and promote entrepreneurship in the district. We will put land to good use and also get some empowerment funds for the people,” said Ms Mulenga said.
She promised to lead the people of Kalulushi with humility and team work to deal with various challenges facing the people in the area.
Ms Mulenga said she would embrace every one regardless of their political, tribal and religious affiliations just like President Edgar Lungu has been leading Zambia with humility and team work in addressing the challenges facing the nation.
“Now that the people of Kalulushi have answered my plea to vote for me as Mayor, I would like to reiterate what I said during campaigns that I will lead them with humility because I am here because of their support,”” she said
