Ndola district Kabushi ward candidate James Banda says Islam has been accepted in Zambia because its ideology is clear and opposed to satanism.
Mr Banda, who is a Muslim and is standing as an independent, said political opponents in the race for the seat had been using his faith to turn the electorate against him.
Mr. Banda, who is standing as an independent candidate, said that this year’s local government elections were centred on service delivery and not rhetoric.
He said having saved the community for the past five years he had not lost sight of the task to improve lives of people in the community.
He was certain of victory on August 11 because he delivered part of the promissory notes he made in 2011.
“I worked on laying water pipes in some parts of the ward, construction of a shelter at the community clinic and shelter at Masala market,” he said
Mr Banda said he was seeking continuity on the various projects that he started with the community which included improving sanitation.
