Construction of infrastructure in Ikelenge on course

CONSTRUCTION of infrastructure to support the creation of Ikelenge as a district in North Western Province is progressing well.

Ikelenge district commissioner Victor Kayekesi told the Daily Nation that Government was building more than 40 houses for civil servants of various departments.

He said Government was also building a district hospital in addition to the four health posts allocated to the district.

“The works are on-going and I can safely say that we are on course. And all the projects are fully funded and soon all the projects will be completed,” said Mr Kayekesi.

He also said works on the construction of the Mwinilunga- Jimbe road was progressing steadily.

“Further Government has supported the Kalene Mission Hospital to run the school of nursing to bridge the human resource gap in the district,” he said.

The Government, he said, through the Citizen’s Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) was reorganizing  the renowned pineapple farming in the district to create an industrial cluster.
