YOU should vote for me because I am the best among the nine presidential candidates and I have a track record of what has been done in the one year I have been in office attests to that, says President Edgar Lungu
And President Lungu said he will continue to acknowledge God even if his critics were questioning his Christian background because recognising the power of God was not a sin.
Addressing a rally at Mfuwe grounds in Mambwe district of Eastern Province yesterday, President Lungu said there was no need for Zambians to gamble over who should lead the country because he was the only candidate with a sound development agenda.
He said the PF under his leadership had continued to grow in strength from where its founder Michael Sata left it. Because he (President Lungu) inherited the ideology of inclusiveness from Mr. Sata who accommodated individuals such as former Chongwe Member of Parliament Silyvia Masebo who gave PF a torrid time when it was still in the opposition.
“I am not saying this out of pride or arrogance but I am just stating facts; I am the best candidate among the nine who are contesting this year’s elections.
“There is need for you to study party politics. When Anderson Mazoka died, there was confusion in the UPND. When Mr. Sata died, there was confusion in the PF but we sat down and resolved the problem and the party entrusted me with the responsibility of leading the party and out of the two political parties which had similar challenges, the PF emerged victorious and has continued gaining strength while the UPND is becoming weaker and weaker despite claiming that it is going forward,” said President Lungu
He said some opposition party leaders were mean, cruel, and unkind and were only driven by desperation and hatred for those in power.
And President Lungu said he will continue to acknowledge God even if his critics were questioning his Christian standards because recognising the power of God was not sin.
Earlier in the day, President Lungu met four chiefs led by senior chief Nsefu.
