HAKAINDE Hichilema’s former head of security Capt. Cosmas Moono says he has received about ten different death threats from the United Party for National Development (UPND) via phone calls.
Capt. Moono said the United Party for National Development was still devastated by his decision to resign and join the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).
He told Daily Nation, yesterday that on Monday evening he received ten different phone calls from UPND supporters who threatened to kill after being accused together with Mr Paul Moonga who recently resigned from UPND to join the ruling the PF of plotting to assassinate Mr Hichilema in Itezhi-Tezhi.
Mr Moonga said all the people who called him on Monday evening accused of being in Itezhi-Tezhi in the company of Mr Moonga at Kalala Lodge and a soldier believed to be sniper plotting to assassinate Mr Hichilema in Itezhi-Tezhi district.
“But on Monday I was campaigning in Chilanga constituency where I am standing I was in Musamba area. I even meet Maria Mapulanga, the UPND candidate whom we shared some jokes with and at 17:00 hours I was in the office of the officer-charge at Chilanga Police Station. All these people can bear witness that on Monday I was never in Itezhi-Tezhi,” he said.
Capt. Moono described the accusation as a security alert intended to bring chaos in the country.
He said the accusations only showed how desperate the UPND was to get to State House.
