Kambwili warns trouble makers

All thugs like those that brutalized a teacher of Sinazongwe District Pamela Chanda will face the law, says Government Chief Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili.

Addressing journalists at his residence in Luanshya Mr Kambwili warned that government would not be selective when enforcing law breakers to ensure that perpetrators of violence were caged before, during and after elections.

Mr Kambwili said government was hopeful that police in Southern Province would identify and isolate Pamela’s attackers.

He said government was astounded at the violence being perpetrated by UPND cadres in Sinazongwe.

Mr Kambwili said it was unreasonable for UPND to think that Southern Province was politically exclusive to them.

He said government has been preaching peace for a long time but the opposition political party seemed to be determined to ensure that there was lawlessness in Zambia.

He has reminded UPND that Zambia was a unitary state and Southern Province belonged to all citizens therefore no one should be denied to belong to any political party or grouping of their choice and should be allowed to associate freely.

“Politics being perpetrated by UPND especially in Southern Province are pre-historic, government will insure that any act of violence is nipped in the bud,” said Mr Kambwili.

He appealed to the UPND leadership to control the violent nature of its members and educate them on the importance of unity and peace.

He urged the country to continue embracing peace and being tolerant to divergent political views.
