Media must be ethical, says Chama

The Patriotic Front (PF) has expressed concern that some media organisations have continued to propagate lies to satisfy their partisan interest at the expense of the country’s security.

Party secretary general Davies Chama has told Millennium Radio in an interview that the media should desist from fabricating stories against individuals, saying the truth when revealed, could discredit the media’s credibility.

Mr. Chama was reacting to the Inspector General of Police’s statement that an article published in The Post Newspaper alleging that foreigners were registered as voters by the party and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) was not true. He said that only showed how some media organisations were bent on fabricating stories.

He said the party and its presidential candidate Edgar Lungu would not engage in propagating lies to the electorate for the sake of political partisan interest which had the capacity to put the country’s security at risk.
