FORMER deputy minister and Member of Parliament Poniso Njeulu has been sued for issuing a cheque on an insufficiently funded bank account.
This is in a court action against the former Sinjembela MP in recovery of over K54 000 owed on the purchase of a hammer mill from Saro Agro Industries Limited. According to the statement of claim filed before the Lusaka High Court, Knight Enterprises Limited and Saro Agro Industrial Limited as first and second complainants respectively accused Mr Njeulu of issuing two cheques dated 31st May 2016 and 30th June 2016 towards the said payment which cheques bounced.
“The defendant bought a hammer mill from the 2nd plaintiff at K54 560.00. The defendant was informed of the bounced cheques and promised to settle the said amounts,” they said.
Knight Enterprises Limited are debt collectors engaged by Saro Agro to help recover the monies owed by the former MP.
Saro Agro Industrires Limited sued for the recovery of the moneys owed following failure by the former deputy minister to settle the matter since the two incidences with the two cheques he issued on the account. Mr Njeulu is also former deputy minister in the office of the President for Western Province and is currently candidate for the Sinjembela seat under the ruling PF ticket.
