Rainbow Party aspiring candidate for Nchanga constituency in Chingola, Fr Richard Luonde, says some political parties should not take advantage of the unemployed women and youths by promising them fake job opportunities once they are voted into power.
Fr Luonde said it was unfortunate that some politicians had gone on the political campaign platform telling lies that they would create employment opportunities for the unemployed youths instantly, when that was just a mere political gimmick.
He said the political parties should learn to tell the truth during the campaign trail instead of promising falsehoods to win votes.
Fr Luonde said the youths were important in the development of the country despite facing challenges such as lack of employment, adding that they should not lose hope because the future looked bright.
He said the Rainbow Party was concerned about the status of Nchanga constituency and promised to engage the mining companies to help uplift the living standards of the people.
Fr Luonde said once voted into power, as a member of parliament for Nchanga constituency, he would ensure that the plight of the youths was looked into for them to feel the sense of belonging.
“Let me warn those politicians who have the habit of bribing the electorate by showering them with money, food and other materials so that they can vote for them to stop doing so because bribing the electorate is a crime,” Fr Luonde said.
