AMATHEON Agri Zambia has been awarded an Environmental Award by the Zambian Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) for its contribution to the country’s sustainable development.

The company’s sustainable development manager Tobias Muyaba who accepted the award on behalf of the company said it was an honour to receive the prestigious award.

“It is an honour to receive this prestigious award. We are fully committed to best social and environmental performance and will continue to lead by example,” he said.

In a press statement, the prize highlighted Amatheon’s consistent engagement with ZEMA over agricultural developments, utilisation of best environmental technology and practices, a specialised department dedicated to sustainable development and a history of successful compliance with Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs).

The award followed the commemoration of the World Environmental Day on 5 June.

Of all registered companies and institutions in Zambia, only two were awarded in the ESIA category.

Shortlisted organisations were selected by a review panel and winners were publicly announced during a ceremony in Lusaka.
