NKANA yesterday retained second place on the summit of the Super Division after beating Nkwazi 2-1 in a Week 18 double-header match played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The victory pushed Nkana to 34 points dislodging Zesco with 33 but nine points behind leaders Zanaco.
Simon Bwalya and Walter Bwalya scored for Nkana while Nkwazi’s consolation came through Chishimba Changala.
Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi said the team was still pushing for the first position on the log and would not bank on yesterday’s victory.
“Our target is to win the championship this season. I am happy the boys started the second half of the season on a winning note. But we need not be complacent because there is a nine point gap to close up,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the other match, Nchanga Rangers humbled visitors Lusaka Tigers 3-0 in a fairly contested game.
Kabeya Mulume opened the scores in the 20th minute as he leaped to score with a free header at the near post from a free kick by Simon Nkhata.
Terry Mwanshi and Clement Kabwe contributed a goal each in second half to give their fans the reason to unleash good dancing moves.
