UPND campaign material lands guard in court

A 24-YEAR-OLD security guard of Lusaka’s Chawama Compound has been dragged to the Lusaka Magistrates Court for allegedly destroying campaign materials belonging to the UPND party.

Leonard Musuku was dragged to court after he was accused of the offence.

When the matter was called for allocations by Chief Resident Magistrate Kenneth Mulife, Musuku who is on police bond was reported to have been absent .

However, Mr Mulife allocated the case to Magistrate Mary Chibanga where Musuku is expected to appear for plea.

He is in count one facing a charge of destroying campaign materials contrary to section 27 (4) and 88 (1) of the Electoral Act No. 12 of 2016 of the laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Musuku on June 11 this year jointly and while acting with others unknown without lawful authority did destroy campaign materials belonging to the UPND.

He is expected to appear in court soon.
