Matero Constituency aspiring candidates promise development

ASPIRING parliamentary candidates for Matero Constituency have promised to transform the compound into a modern area and address the sanitary conditions once elected to the August House on the August 11.

Four are Lloyd Kaziya (PF); Sydney Sikanyika (FDD) , Philemon Lwabila (UNIP),and Tom Michelo (UPND)

And Mr Kaziya said once elected he would improve sanitary conditions, water reticulation and waste management especially at SOS children village in Chazanga compound.

Mr Kaziya said he would also tackle the issue of early childhood education as it was critical to the wellbeing of the community.

Mr Sikanyika said people of Matero needed a leader who would deliver to their expectations by having access to clean toilets.

He would also give the people of Matero a modern market because most of marketeers were operating under make shift structures.

He charged that Mwembeshi and Kapwepwe wards were under developed, adding that the two areas recorded high number of widows who needed help in terms of women empowerment and that early marriages were also high due to poverty levels.

Meanwhile Mr Lwabila said he would also work towards the upgrading of Muchinga, Lilanda, Matero and Zingalume basic schools to secondary schools because the area  had few high schools.

There would also be need to build more health posts to cushion the shortage of health personnel and also decongest the existing ones.

Mr Lwabila also promised to put up a research centre for students in higher education and to reinstate recreations centres for youths so that they were empowered with different skills such as carpentry and joinery.

He explained that the constituency development funds (CDF) would be given to the people in charge of the budget because the funds belonged to them.

And Mr Michelo said he would ensure that he advocated for Farmers Input Support Program (FISP) to be enhanced so that many farmers accessed the facility, adding that soft loans would also be introduced to youths and marketeers.
