UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s source of wealth will be probed when electorates in Kabushi send me to Parliament, Patriotic Front (PF) Kabushi Constituency aspiring candidate Bowman Lusambo has warned.
Mr Lusambo said his first motion would be to move Parliament to demand that law enforcement agencies should probe Mr Hichilema.
“When the people of Kabushi in Ndola send me to Parliament on August 11, I will find out on their behalf how Mr Hichilema benefited from the privatization. I will move a motion in Parliament so that he can be investigated,” he said.
Mr Lusambo said Zambians were interested in knowing how Mr Hichilema allegedly got rich overnight after being part of the privatization of parastatal companies
He alleged that Mr Hichilema was a poor man before privatization but became very rich after privatizing parastatal companies.
Mr Lusambo said people on the Copperbelt suffered when Mr Hichilema participated in the privatization of the mines to foreigners while he
(Mr Hichilema) got very rich overnight. In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Lusambo said the law enforcement agencies must establish whether or not Mr Hichilema’s wealth was not as a result of selling government companies when he was tasked to be the chairman.
He said people on the Copperbelt were alive to the fact that Mr Hichilema was the one who sold some mines which saw many people losing jobs.
Mr Lusambo said it was the same reason why Mr Hichilema had never and would never get more votes than PF on the Copperbelt because the resident cannot be taken for a ride by the UPND leader.
And Mr Lusambo has advised Copperbelt residents and Zambians in general not to vote for Mr Hichilema and his running mate Mr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
He said Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba were not politicians but business men who were after enriching themselves even more at the expense of poor Zambians.
Mr Lusambo appealed to Zambians to think twice about voting for Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba because they could just sell the country to the two businessmen who were after making themselves rich.
