DR NEVERS Mumba is an imposter masquerading as president of the MMD who should be treated as an ordinary member of the opposition UPND, says MMD national secretary Raphael Nakacinda.
Mr Nakacinda said yesterday in a circular to all party organs and general membership that they should not be ‘‘deceived and hoodwinked’’ by Dr Mumba that he was still the president of MMD as portrayed by some sections of the media.
He said that the legitimate leadership of the party was under former Lunte parliamentarian Felix Mutati who was installed by the MMD convention at Kabwe’s Mulungushi Rock of Authority on May 20 to 22, 2016.
“We wish to vehemently notify our entire provincial, district, constituency and ward leaders nation-wide not to be deceived and hoodwinked into believing that Dr Nevers Mumba is still president of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) as portrayed by the media,” he said.
Mr Nakacinda said that Mr Mutati was in firm control of the party and had fulfilled the statutory requirement of changing office bearers at the Registrar of Societies.
He said that Dr Mumba was an imposter masquerading as president of the MMD and that because he allegedly joined the UPND he needed to be treated as an ordinary member of that party.
“In this regard, we wish to advise all our members that Dr Nevers Mumba is simply an imposter masquerading as president of the party when he expelled himself from the party the day he joined UPND, so he should be treated as an ordinary member of the UPND,” Mr Nakacinda said.
Dr Mumba has joined the UPND countrywide political campaigns and was fondly being introduced as MMD president at their party events.
