The international consultants auditing the 2016 Register of Voters through the support of the United Nations Development Programme Electoral Cycle Support Project have commenced their work, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has revealed.
Speaking to journalists in Lusaka yesterday, ECZ public relations manager Mr. Cris Akufuna disclosed that the consultants presented the inception report on Monday, 20th June, 2016 together with their preliminary findings to the participating political parties and other stakeholders who sit on the Consultative Elections Committee.
“The preliminary findings were noted by management and will be followed up. The auditors will submit the draft report of their findings to the commission next week for management responses on the audit,” said Mr. Akufuna.
And Mr. Akufuna confirmed that five people have been deleted from the register of voters following inspections which took place from 15th to 25th May, 2016 and that ECZ considered objections filed against five persons regarding the retention of their names on the Register.
