I WILL crush the UPND in Sinazongwe because the candidate they have fielded does not have any following and is just banking on the party’s popularity, Patriotic Front (PF) parliamentary candidate Richwell Siamunene has said.
According to Mr. Siamunene, the PF had gained ground in Sinazongwe due to many developmental projects initiated in the district, adding that his campaigns have been easy as they were based on what Government had done and promises to do if the ruling party was to be retained in power.
He said victory was certain for him because Gift Sialubulo, the candidate that UPND has allegedly imposed on the people, did not stay in Sinazongwe but only returned there to campaign, hoping to win due to the party’s perceived strength in the area.
He, however, said the UPND should forget about wrestling the seat from him because he was equal to the task.
He said the people of Sinazongwe were looking for a person who identified himself with the challenges they had and not opportunists who were merely seeking to make a fortune for themselves using the party.
He said while the party had more popular candidates who would have added value to its campaign in the area, the UPND had ‘‘dribbled the people of Sinazongwe by imposing an alien who had nothing to offer to them as their representative’’.
Mr Siamunene claimed unlike his opponents, he had a track record of taking development to the area as former MP.
“They went and brought someone from Chingola to come and contest in Sinazongwe but the people have rejected him because he doesn’t know anything about this constituency. People are asking him why he did not contest in Chingola since the UPND claims that it had taken over the Copperbelt Province but he has failed to convince them.
