GEOFFREY Bwalya Mwamba has been accused of lying to the National Assembly by making two contradictory declarations about his educational qualifications that he is a holder of both Grade 12 and Form V qualifications.
The Patriotic Front (PF) now believes that Mr Mwamba is lying about both his educational and academic qualification because it is not possible for one to acquire both Grade 12 and Form V qualifications.
According to the Public Parliamentary Handbook of the Tenth National Assembly of Zambia, Mr Mwamba in 2008 declared that he was a holder of a Grade 12 qualification.
But in the Public Parliamentary Handbook of the Eleventh National Assembly of Zambia, Mr Mwamba in 2011 said he was a holder of a Form V qulification.
PF deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya has now challenged Mr Mwamba to state how he obtained both Grade 12 and Form Five qualification and from which secondary schools.
Mr Bwalya said it would have made sense for Mr Mwamba to have a Form 5 qualifications because if indeed he had completed his secondary school, he could have completed before 1984 when the Grade 12 was introduced under the local examination body, the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ).
Mr Bwalya said since Mr Mwamba was a UPND presidential running mate who would become the de facto president should Mr Hakainde Hichilema be elected republican president, it was important that the questions being raised about his (Mwamba) qualifications were adequately answered.
He said Mr Mwamba was not supposed to possess a Grade 12 certificate but a Form 5 qualification and the fact that he had recorded different educational qualifications meant that the UPND running mate was lying about his qualification.
“Mr Mwamba promised that he was going to shock us as he was going to produce a Grade 12 certificate when the provision for document was included in the amended Constitution. Mr Mwamba has neither produced the Grade 12 qualifications nor the Form V qualifications.
‘‘Surprisingly and shockingly, Mr Mwamba’s records in Parliament reveal that in 2008 he had a Grade 12 qualifications while in 2011, he recorded that he was a Form V qualifications holder. We are challenging him over his qualification because they form part of the validation of his nomination as a presidential running mate by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ),” Mr Bwalya said.
Mr Bwalya said there was something seriously amiss with Mr Mwamba’s educational qualification and according to him (Bwalya), the UPND vice-president for administration could not have gone as far as Grade 7.
He challenged Mr Mwamba to clearly state whether he had a Grade 12 qualifications or a Form V qualifications. Otherwise, it was important for investigative wings to take an interest in the matter.
Mr Bwalya said Mr Mwamba should equally tell Zambians which secondary school he had attended to have been awarded either a Grade 12 qualifications or a Form V qualifications.
