‘Cadre for Hire’

Renowned comedian Chibwe Katebe tonight at The Frog in Lusaka hosts a special comedy night dubbed ‘Cadre for Hire’ meant to highlight political violence ahead of the August 11 elections.
The event is planned to feature for the first time under one stage Zambia’s top comedy duos of Bikkiloni and Diffikoti as well as Kasaka and Mwine Mushi. As host, Katebe is also geared to showcase his comedy antics for an event that is scheduled for two nights.
“Cadre for Hire is a comedy night that I am hosting specifically to give an alternative entertainment to our fans and also educate them on the various issues affecting our country in as far as elections are concerned. It is a show meant to help promote a violence-free election in an entertaining way,” said Katebe in an interview.
The seasoned comedian said his idea of collaborating with his fellow comedians is to give a reasonable package to the fans and meant to act as a huge comeback to the actors.
“This event as you may be aware is open for two nights, so as to give chance to as many people as possible. After Lusaka, we will move to other towns across our nation and I am very sure our next stop will be Mkushi,” he said.
With the opening show starting at 19:30 hours tonight, fans are expectant of an eventful evening full of rib-cracking jokes. Diffikoti and Bikkiloni are always geared considering that this event is happening in their hometown while Kasaka and Mwine Mushi will definitely represent Kopala in their unique style.
Suwilanji asks GOD to choose leader for Zambia

In her recent song, ‘Tusalileni’ which means ‘choose for us’ and whose video launch is on this evening at Lusaka’s Sterkenikor Arcades, gospel songstress Mirriam Mumba aka Siwilanji is focusing on Zambia’s elections and seeking God’s guidance for us to choose a leader.
Speaking in an interview ahead for this evening’s video launch, the award winning singer said there is need to call upon all Zambians to engage in prayers and ask God to guide us as we head towards the August 11 elections.
“The Bible says, ‘Unless the Lord builds, the builders build in vain.’ Meaning we don’t want to build on our own but to put God first,” she said in giving details about the song.
“This is a video launch to emphasize on the song, ‘Tusalileni,’ I am asking God to choose for us a leader that is from Him.”
Suwilanji’s event starts at 17 hours and will go up to 20 hours. Fans and followers of her music are expected to pay K100 for VIP and K50 ordinary.

ZAM gets patron

Zambia Association of Musicians president Njoya Tembo has announced that renowned Zambian entrepreneur Dr. Laurence Sikutwa of Lawrence Sikutwa and Associates will serve as ZAM patron to help the institution adapt into a professional body.
Mr. Tembo disclosed this in a statement saying that Dr. Sikutwa will guide the Association into a new era of professionalism and help it achieve its goals set in the 2014-2016 strategic plan.
“The support of Dr. Sikutwa further strengthens our ability to meet the needs of our members and achieve the vision of the Association to be professional, bold and viable and responsive to the needs of the Zambian musicians and relevant to the entertainment, education and the improvement of the quality of life of the Zambian people, and music lovers everywhere,” stated Tembo.
And Dr Sikutwa who is the Group Executive Chairman of Lawrence Sikutwa and Associates Limited (LSA) says he is delighted about the development.
“ I am delighted to confirm that I will be happy to serve as patron of the Association in order to make a contribution to the music industry in Zambia, which is aimed at translating and preserving our cultural and traditional heritage,” Said Mr. Sikutwa.
