THE Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has introduced an advanced certificate in business accounting for the 2017 syllabus which will align its graduates with global professional qualifications.
Speaking at the launch, CIMA Zambia branch committee chairperson Ethel Ngwira said the institution understood the needs of a well-trained and educated labour force in sustaining the economy.
Ms. Ngwira also said the development of human capital was key to the success of any organization.
“CIMA is proud to be the first professional accounting body to offer a truly global product in the fast moving area of Islamic finance. At CIMA we understand that human capacity is key to the success of your organisations,” she said.
And Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) representative Dr. Francis Ndilila said rapid changes and increased complexity of today’s world needed new educational system.
Speaking on behalf of ZACCI president Geoffrey Sakulanda at the CIMA launch, Dr. Ndilila said any strategy for relevance of training programmes must address professional challenges which called for requisite skills.
“The programme we are launching today is designed to elevate people and businesses to success by developing skills and unlocking talent. It provides a solid grasp of the fundamentals of business and finance,” he said.
Dr. Ndilila also said the programme must introduce participants to the practical realities of the different types of commerce and industry in the quest to grasp the fundamentals of business and finance.
He said ZACCI was ready to work closely with training institutions to provide internship for young Zambians especially in the finance and accounting fields.
