THE Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund (PEIF) has empowered more than 400 Copperbelt-based marketeers with MTN electronic voucher dispensers for talk time, fund manager Joseph Chilinda has said.
Mr Chilinda said the electronic voucher dispensers were worth K3, 500 and that 400 marketeers have obtained the machines to sell talk time as a business.
He said in an interview in Kitwe that the PEIF was not only about empowering marketeers with funds, but also other things that could improve their lives.
“As Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund, we are empowering marketeers in various ways and I must say that the response from marketeers is good. For those who received the electronic voucher dispensers for talk time, they were very happy with this initiative.
“I can tell you that the Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund has empowered more than 400 Copperbelt-based marketeers with MTN electronic voucher dispensers for talk time,” Mr Chilinda said.
National Traders and Marketeers Association of Zambia (NATMAZ) president Goodson Mofya said empowering more than 400 marketeers with electronic voucher dispensers for talk time was a positive development.
He was hopeful that some marketeers could grow their businesses from the gesture shown by the fund.
“Every long journey starts with a single step and so those who want to go very far in their businesses, they should take advantage of the fund to start their business and go very far.
“We have heard stories of people who have started from nothing and have gone very far in their business. The Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund just helps marketeers to find their feet to greater heights.
‘‘So marketeers and traders should use this initiative to get to the top,” Mr Mofya said.
