THE working alliance between the Patriotic Front (PF) and the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) is meant to support the presidency of Edgar Lungu, says MMD national secretary Raphael Nakachinda.
And Mr Nakachinda has clarified that there was no difference between those who have been adopted to stand on PF tickets and those from the MMD.
Mr Nakachinda said the issues of parliamentary and local government election seats were still being worked on ahead of the campaigns.
“I want to take this opportunity to dispel the malicious propaganda that is circulating on social media suggesting that there is a difference between MMD and PF concerning the adoption process,
“First of all it must be appreciated that the thrust of the alliance between PF and MMD is basically to support the presidency of Edgar Chagwa Lungu,” Mr Nakachinda said. Mr Nakachinda said the discussions between the two parties had come at the eleventh hour when the adoption process had almost been concluded.
Yesterday, a named online media suggested that the PF and MMD faction of Felix Mutati had differed bitterly over the adoption of candidates.
The PF and Mutati’s MMD faction had a pact whereby it was agreed that MMD would field candidates only in constituencies where they were popular.
But Mr Nakachinda described as nonsense the reports circulating on social media that there were problems in the adoption process of MMD and PF candidates following the alliance.
