Masebo stands no chance

FORMER Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo has no chance of retaining the parliamentary seat if adopted by the United Party for National Development (UPND) because she allegedly neglected the people of Chongwe when they needed her most, PF Chongwe Constituency Chairman Charles Mumena has said.

And Mr. Mumena said Chongwe constituency was ready to vote for President Edgar Lungu and any Member of Parliament that the Patriotic Front (PF) would adopt in the August 11 general elections.

He charged that Ms. Masebo failed to address the challenges which people in the constituency were facing because she was allegedly an absent parliamentarian.

Mr Mumena said her involvement with the oppositions had also delayed development in Chongwe.

“Chongwe Constituency was currently faced with numerous development challenges because she never cared for the people who voted for her. All she cared about was her selfish gains which made her join UPND. People are still facing challenges such as water problems, bad roads that needed to be tarred, and construction of a modern market which has stalled because she was never there,” Mr. Mumena said.

He said the people of Chongwe needed an MP from the PF, who would represent them well and deliver development.

Mr. Mumena stated that the people of Chongwe were fully geared to give President Lungu and PF 100 per cent votes in the August 11 general elections.

“PF structures in Chongwe are intact and campaigning for party presidential candidate Edgar Lungu and whosoever will be adopted as MP. The President has delivered on many of his campaign promises such as road network, infrastructure development and improved health service delivery among others.

“We need such development here in Chongwe and this can only be done if people vote for an MP who shares the same vision with President Lungu,” he said.

Mr Mumena reiterated that the people of Chongwe loved President Lungu because he was a humble leader who did not look down on people regardless of their status in society.

He described the Head of State as a visionary leader whose dream was to see Zambia become a prosperous country.

“One thing that the people here love about President Lungu is his humbleness and his vision for the country. He has a heart for the people and he means well for the country,” he said.

Mr. Mumena urged the electorates countrywide to vote for President Lungu for continuity of various developmental projects.

Ms Masebo has joined the UPND after falling out of favour with the PF.

In the 2015 presidential election, she campaigned for UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema despite being a PF member.
