Chisokone marketeers warn UPND

Opposition UPND has been warned to stay clear of Chisokone market in Kitwe because it is not for politics.

The vendors and marketeers at Chisokone market in Kitwe said it was regrettable that UPND wanted to create confusion by disturbing the peace of the people at the market.

Speaking on behalf of the vendors and marketeers, Henry Mwansa said the UPND had taken the law for granted  by taking unorthodox politics to Chisokone market which was a  working place for various people.

Mr Mwansa said it was unfair for the UPND to start harassing innocent marketeers and vendors who had nothing to do with politics.

He said the UPND should go on the battle field with other political players because the issue of roughing up vendors and marketeers was  a primitive way of doing politics.

Mr Mwansa said it was unfair for the UPND to start intimidating the traders at the market because they were not politicians.

He said political players should not take advantage of the marketeers and vendors by making their lives difficult.

Mr Mwansa urged all the marketeers and vendors to report any suspicious looking  politicians going to Chisokone market  with intentions  to cause commotion  to the police or the Association of Vendors and Marketeers in Zambia (AVEMA) so that the culprits could be  brought to book.

“Let the marketeers and vendors conduct their businesses freely without the UPND taking their petty politics to the market which is an eyesore to the traders at Chisokone market,” said Mr Mwansa.
