JCTR to sensitise on Bill of Rights

THE Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has launched a countrywide sensitisation campaign to explain to the people the essence of the referendum on the Bill of Rights.

JCTR executive director Father Leonard Chiti said the holding of a referendum on the Bill of Rights this year would be a critical moment for Zambia.

In an interview with Millennium Radio, Fr Chiti said that his organisation had since commenced sensitising its members on the matter.

And Fr Chiti said the centre had decided to join the campaign for a new Constitution because of the expanded Bill of Rights which had the potential to guarantee citizens improved access to social services.

On Thursday Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) chairperson Justice Esau Chulu announced that the issue of the referendum had since been resolved and will be held alongside the general elections.-Millennium Radio 90.5FM
